Euro 2012, Big Match Today
Euro 2012 is already underway and now we have a slight knowledge of how teams are going to play. Spain, Netherlands and France, all failed to cause sparks in their opening matches. Germany won but they were anything but spectacular. England won a few fans with their solid display against French and Russia reminded every one of the speedy threat they possess. Overall the first round of group matches weren’t dull or boring and every team looked lively. Denmark and Poland gave a fair account of themselves and Ukraine, will cause problems, it looks like.
There is another mega showdown today with Netherlands (Holland) taking on Germans. Both teams are one of the favourites to win Euro and they both have dazzling players on their squad. Germany traditionally fare better in International tournaments and they are supposed to have a strong mentality though it didn’t stop Chelsea beating the Germans in their own backyard. Any how to Euro, let’s talk about what we are going to witness in few hours time.
It’s a must win game for Netherlands, they lose and Portugal wins and that’s it for world cup finalists. They are out of Euro. Germany can afford to lose but they will want to win and go through from the group of death.
I personally think Netherlands are going to crash out of the tournament today. It’s a big call but I think a justified one. Much has been made of how well they played against Denmark, and just luck betrayed them but I think it was more than luck. Dutch players seemed selfish, especially Robben and Afellay, their wide players. Everyone wanted to score himself, Van Persie whose job is to score looked out of sorts. Against Germany, they will be having very few clear-cut opportunities and expect Manuel Neur to stop all of them and keep a clean sheet.
Also Germany’s biggest threat is counter attack, that’s how they demolish teams and with Netherlands wanting to win and pressing forward, Germans can really counter them. Gomez doesn’t miss sitters and there is bound to have some, come his way today.
Germany to win today for me and go through and a win for Portugal too. Let’s wait and watch !

I cant believe you wrote an article previewing the Germany-Netherlands game, without remotely mentioning the historic rivalry that exists between the two great nations.
At the very least, a mention of the Voller-Rijkaard incident seems warranted :p
Either way, I agree with the analysis. Germany should win this, but Portugal? Id have to sit on the fence on that one.
I wanted to write so many things, but the article was already way too long, plus wanted to give an analysis, so I am glad that you agree
Portugal won then :D
