Brazil is the place to be
We are 3 days into the World Cup in Brazil and in the seven games played so far, we have seen some fantastic end to end football. Normally during these big events, teams usually take on a cautious approach but this time around, it hasn’t been the case. Teams have been adventurous and we have seen some great attacking football.
We saw England and Italy, normally the two most cautious and defensive sides, produce a great entertaining encounter in Manaus and it had everything. There were goals, tackles, slick movement and the ball was being moved quickly in the midfield and it was end to end stuff. England may have lost but they produced good football and every time they went forward, they created problems for Italy.
Uruguay against Costa Rica was another fantastic match. While most of us expected Uruguay to ease past Costa Rica, it was anything but. I’ll be honest. I thought Costa Rica would sit back, defend and wait for their opportunity but they showed great intent and got their reward. It was another fantastic encounter.
The atmosphere is these games has been terrific, absolutely terrific. Brazil, being the hosts, along with other South American sides have had tremendous support from their supporters.
It has been three days and it’s fair to-day that no game is push over. We have seen a young Netherland side thrash the defending champions and we have seen Costa Rica humble Uruguay. It’s a fascinating sight for a football fan.
We haven’t seen any dull stalemates so far. I’m not sure if it is a result of poor defending or great attacking display but it’s probably a mixture of both. There is an awful lot to look forward to and Brazil is definitely the place to be.
With such a fantastic atmosphere during these games and such a fantastic start to the World Cup, there is nothing anyone can look forward to more than ‘the beautiful game’.
