We’re bringing you something from the musical front, this week. Introducing a brand new talent from Islamabad who has been enchanting everyone with her sureelay covers – Ephra Khan Durrani. She’s been singing for some time now, and has gathered a lot of fan following. Youth Correspondent decide to catch up with this songstress to dig out some stuff on her.

How supportive have your friends and family been in starting such an early music career?
My family and friends have always been the driving force for me in achieving success in whatever I dabble in. The fact that they understand me, and actually like my dreams and aspiration and to be able to support me wherever I go just speaks volumes of the love they have. They have always tried to help me in maintaining a balance in my chaotic lifestyle for which I shall always be grateful to them.

What’s your educational background?
I am currently studying social sciences, and development studies is my major. The subject is very fascinating, and that is why I decided to pursue it.

Tell us about a typical day in Ephra Khan’s life.
Let me just squeeze all of my day in one single line – Wake up early, eat, study, pray, gossip, play, sleep early and I add random singing in between all of these. So you’ll probably catch me singing even while I’m studying or chomping on food.

When did you realize that music was what you wanted with your life?
My passions are very dear to me, and I knew that whatever I will do will always be closely related to what I love. Music is more than just a passion for me. It has grown to something entirely vital for my existence.

What does singing and music mean to you?
I shall quote Ray Charles here –  “I was born with music inside me. Music is one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It is a necessity for me-like food or water.” I couldn’t say it any better.

Top 5 songs in your playlist right now.
1. Nothing else matters – Metallica
2. Hotel California – The Eagles
3. Wicked games – The Weeknd
4. Tumhe dillagi bhool jani pareg- Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
5. You fill up my senses – John Denver

Name one artist/band you would like to feature with.
Definitely Pitbull!

What projects are you currently working on?
Top secret for now! But you’ll probably find details about it very soon.

How do you manage a balance between music and studies?
When you love what you do, it becomes easy to keep a balance. I absolutely love singing and I’ve taken some awesome college courses – and believe it or not, I don’t mind studying so it’s not hard to take out time for either one of these things.

Do you plan to take up music as a career choice?
Yes. Totally.

Until now, what have been the highest high and the lowest low?
Highest high: All the happy times with family and friends.
Lowest low : All the sad times with family.

How do you unwind after a strenuous day?
Fruity Bubble bath with a cup of green tea. So soothing!
