WIE IEEE PNEC was honoured to hold its annual event, the TECHFEST this year on 21st December 2011. TechFest is the biggest event organized by WIE IEEE PNEC.

The preparations for the TechFest had been going on for about a month. Publicity being done on Facebook, official page shared & being made the organizer’s display picture and TechFest Posters being put up in universities all overKarachi!

On 21st Dec, the classes were called off one hour before the actual time. Meanwhile, arrangements were being done with organizers rushing here and there in confusion and rush. Tables were set up at the tennis court for the Poster Design while seating arrangements were done in the 2 rooms where the Quiz was to be held.

Teams from different colleges and universities showed their enthusiasm in this event. The event formally started at 4 with an inaugural speech by the Chairperson WIE IEEE PNEC, Ms Zenab Ali. The participants then proceeded towards the tennis court where the Poster Designing was to be held. Each team consisted of two members & was provided with the paints, colors and pastels. The thoughts to be instilled on paper were to be based around SAVE ENERGY, SAVE THE WORLD.

Once the competition started, the air was filled with fun and laughter from the audience who roamed about encouraging the participants. While on the other hand, for the participants, it was a nerve game, with only half an hour at hand.

There was a variety of creativity to be seen. Students having a professional hand at art, while other who only knew how to draw a circuit having a light bulb-all thanks to engineering!

At the end of the competition, there were artifacts as well as art-defects! The results were to be announced at the closing ceremony.

After the Poster Designing, the participants were ushered towards the rooms where Quiz Competition was to be held. Two sessions of quiz were to be run in parallel. The team for quiz comprised of three members. It had 3 rounds, the 1st being the qualifying round. The quiz was software based and each team had to select its subject from a list of 5. It was somewhat of a rapid fire round, giving answers to as many questions in the 2 minutes timeframe.

It was an enlightening activity for all participants as well as audience. The results again, were to be announced at the closing ceremony.

After the quiz, participants and audience proceeded for the speaker session by Ms Hamna, a former graduate of PNEC, who was to enlighten the audience about ‘Branding’ themselves. The session was quite informative with the adequate amount of humor.

The Commandant, Rear Admiral Syed Imdad Imam Jaffri graced the occasion with his presence. In his closing speech, he appreciated the efforts of WIE IEEE PNEC and encouraged the students to regularly take part in such mind freshening activities.  Results were announced after much await and anticipation.
