Karachi, November 1, 2011: Not so long ago, the students of SZABIST shone when a new concept was launched by them namely the USR- University Social Responsibility. The concept brought together students from different universities on a single platform where they competed for ways of going effectively responsible. The incredible turnout for the competition was proof of the recognition of the concept itself. A healthy competition was seen among the students who seemed willing to bring about a change. The team that outclassed its competitors belonged to the Rotaract Club of SZABIST Karachi Midcity where its members Ali-ur-Rehman, Fahad Ali, Alina Nabi, Fatima Yosuf and Syed Mohammad Raza grabbed the prize money of Rs. 50,000.

“When my students came up with this concept, I wasn’t sure if they would be able to pull it off but I encouraged them and it’s clear how their hard work has paid off ”, quoted Hina Shamsi Nauman – the SZABIST Faculty Advisor.

In further support, the project co-ordinator, Ali Khalid stated “The idea of the competition was not only to go responsible but also to encourage creativity in it.

“I’m very proud of my team for their efforts that they put in to make this competition a success. And I’m also very great full of our Faculty Advisor for her endless support, not to forget the sponsors, caterers and most importantly the SZABIST management for helping us in each step. This event would not have been such a success without all their input”, he added.

The judges of the competition were pleased having witnessed such high spirits from the organizing team and the participants. One of the judges, Zia Zuberi, impressed by the concept and its execution held that the youth seemed very interested in the issues faced by the society. “They want to make a difference and be part of the change”, he addressed. “The concept was creative and demanded creativity from the participants too. It felt good to see the energy of today’s youth”.
