Day 2:

Day 2 had to live up to the precedent set by the previous day. With the registrations and other formalities finally wrapped up, the participants dived into the intoxicating environment of Enigma without hesitation and the day was off to its start. This time around it was apparent that some of the events were becoming crowd’s favorite.

‘The Vocals’ directed by Ali Shah and Fazeel Ahmed had the strongest presence in campus with some amazing singers and rising talent Asim Azhar; their entertaining performances drew in the largest crowds. The ‘Vignette’ and ‘Snap It’ displays also became favourite hunts of teamsters and participants who happened to be free and so did, surprisingly, the ‘Chef’s Lair’ run By Hamna Moin. Day 2’s specialty was going to be curry and seeing the participants rush around preparing the ingredients and the cookware in IBA’s shed was a lot of fun (not to mention the possibility of freebie tastings!). Another figure of attention was 12-year-old Hammad Ahmed Qureshi, the chess prodigy from Hyderabad who wowed everyone with his mastery of the skill.

Some of the other competitions did not showcase the performances except the end result of the participants work. ‘Live and Thematic art’s’ produced amateur wire sculptures which amazed everyone with their delicacy and creativity. Headed by Waleed Ahmed Saeed Khan, Nida Hassan and Maham Naseem, this competition tested how well can the students adapt to new mediums and produce unique artwork.

With over 20 events in Enigma including old stand bys like parliamentary debates and Urdu debates mixed with modern competitions like Advertise it, Fifa 12, Photo Essay and Short Film, it was not easy for any one person to experience each and every activity which took place. You could’ve just immersed yourself in what you can, enjoy as much as possible and try to capture the experience of Enigma as a whole.

Day 2 ended with everyone heading off to “Dreamworld” Water Park.  Everyone queued up by the buses as the events for the day were wrapped up. The security management of Enigma has to be commended for the efficient journey from IBA to Dreamworld, from the loading of the buses, to the head counts, to announcement of instructions et al. At the water park girls and boys split up to go to their respective changing rooms and after that it was an exceptionally fun filled two hours of water slides. For the people who were reluctant to go in the water, there were other alternatives available like horse riding, boating, archery and video games. Everyone enjoyed themselves as best suited them and later gathered for a well needed dinner. Sitting under the stars, sipping the hot soup and trying the buffet while listening to idyllic music, it was the perfect end to Day 2 of Enigma.
